1973, Digital Displays: “Electronic numbers are becoming a familiar sight on consumer items such as pocket calculators, digital clocks and electronic watches. Three types of arrays have been developed. The simplest is the seven-stroke array (top), basically a rectangle with a horizontal bar. The four-by-seven dot array (middle) also is a rectangle with a horizontal bar.
