United and Spurs could both be in the market for a new goalkeeper at the end of this season.

Man Utd star David De Gea has been in good form this term but he is out of contract in the summer. The club’s hierarchy are currently in talks with the board over a new deal on reduced terms.

As for Tottenham, it is being heavily reported that they will look to replace Hugo Lloris when the summer transfer window opens later this year.

Raya has been mentioned as a potential target for Man Utd and Spurs ahead of this summer.

The Spain international has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League. His Brentford contract is due to expire in 2024. He is understood to be valued at around £40m.

But The Telegraph are now reporting that Raya is ‘on the radar’ of clubs in La Liga following his ‘breakthrough into the Spain international squad’.

‘Brentford’s David Raya had been expected to be involved in the goalkeeper shake-up at the end of the campaign when Premier League No 1 places could become available.

‘However, with his breakthrough into the Spain international squad he is now firmly on the radar of La Liga’s biggest clubs for a free transfer at the end of next season, which could complicate his next decision.

‘The relegation battle means there could be goalkeepers on the market when the transfer window opens in the summer. Tottenham are looking for a long-term successor to Hugo Lloris and the future of David De Gea at Manchester United is yet to be sorted.’

Last month, Man Utd legend Gary Neville suggested Raya “could step up” and play for one of the biggest clubs in the world.

“I think Raya would interest United in the summer,” Neville said on The Overlap.

“I went to watch Brentford a couple of weeks ago… I think he’s going to become available, he’s only got a year left. I think he could step up.”

Neville added: “It is a problem that. I’ve said it’s the single most difficult position in English football being the Manchester United goalkeeper. I genuinely believe that.

“I think Liverpool’s number one is the second. And that’s not to be disrespectful to all other clubs, I think the Manchester United goalkeeper comes under more scrutiny if they make a mistake than any other position in English football on the pitch.

“It’s tough! And I’ve seen lads in that goal [struggle]. That’s the problem they’ve got. It’s whether [a new goalkeeper] can handle that stadium.”
