1 dead, 1 injured after Mont-Tremblant gondola accident
One person was killed and another seriously injured after they were thrown from a gondola at Mont-Tremblant, Que., that was struck by construction equipment.
One person was killed and another is in critical condition after an accident involving a gondola in Mont-Tremblant’s resort village, around 105 kilometres northwest of Montreal, according to provincial police.
Shortly before noon on Sunday, a piece of construction equipment at a construction site struck the gondola, which was halfway up between the base of the mountain and the mountain summit, said Sgt. Éric Cadotte, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.
“The gondola did not collapse, but the force of impact knocked the two people out of the gondola, and they fell several metres to the ground,” he said.
Police are at the scene investigating the incident.
On Facebook, the Tremblant Resort Association announced the cancellation of its remaining blues music festival activities.
