The Toffees confirmed Sean Dyche as their new manager earlier today after sacking Frank Lampard last week following a run of nine losses in 12 Premier League matches.

Everton sit in the relegation zone in the Premier League and Dyche is looking to make the most of the final days of the transfer market to improve his squad.

There has been speculation that they will look to sign two attacking players after allowing Anthony Gordon to join Newcastle United for £45m over the weekend.

But transfer expert Romano has claimed that Everton have now made an offer for Chelsea midfielder Gallagher ahead of tomorrow’s transfer deadline.

Romano wrote on Twitter: “Everton have submitted a bid to sign Conor Gallagher from Chelsea. It’s £40m proposal plus £5m add ons. #EFC Chelsea will make a decision soon as there are also other clubs interested in Gallagher — and player has to decide his future too.”

There are also rumours that Newcastle United are looking to sign Gallagher but they want to agree a loan deal in January.

Ally McCoist recently claimed that the Chelsea midfielder, who had a successful loan spell at Crystal Palace last term, would be a great signing for the Magpies.

McCoist told talkSPORT: “Conor Gallagher is the kind of player I think Newcastle would be going for: young, hungry.

“I think that would make a signing. The way he plays the game, Newcastle fans would take to him.

“He’s all energy, he’s high energy, great effort, perfect.”

Everton also want to sign Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres with reports earlier today suggesting they were preparing a £15m bid for the Sweden international.

However, The Sun journalist Alan Nixon claims that ‘Everton will have to find £25m for Gyokeres’ in an effort to convince the Sky Blues to part ways.

Jeff Stelling approached the subject on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday programme on Saturday, he said: “Viktor Gyokeres has been touted as moving in. 29 in 72 for Coventry in the latest spell there, he had a little loan spell before that. Could he be the answer?”

Sky Sports pundit Michael Dawson replied: “This is the kind of personnel Everton are having to look for and no disrespect to Gyokeres, he’s scored goals in the Championship but he’s unproven in the Premier League and he’d be going into a relegation battle.

“One thing about Sean Dyche is he will play 4-4-2, he’ll get the ball up to Dominic Calvert-Lewin and he needs someone with him.

“They signed [Neal] Maupay, I don’t believe he was the answer for him to play the way he is.

“Gyokeres has 12 goals this season. He’s unproven. But Dyche, for me, is the right make to take over.”
